Description
Despite the jokes and antics of Bassie and Adriaan, more and more people have to cry. This crying is caused by a crazy professor, Archibald Chagrijn, who wants to make the whole world cry with his griengas. He has gone crazy due to an accident with one of his gases, and is now under the delusion that laughing is a waste of energy. When one day Bassie and Adriaan catch Joris, the professor's accomplice, at their caravan, they devise a plan with the police to track down the professor. They deliberately let Joris escape from the police station and follow him when he returns to the professor. They chase him with a plane. That almost goes wrong when first Bassie and then Adriaan fall asleep while flying. Robin wakes them up just in time after Adriaan has finally fallen asleep. The professor turns out to be hiding in the Canary Islands. However, in addition to Joris, he also appears to have an entire army of hypnotized soldiers at his disposal. These soldiers will do anything when the professor injects them with hypnosis gas. This makes it extra difficult to counter him. However, Bassie and Adriaan do receive help from someone who provides them with information and tools from behind the scenes. Bassie and Adriaan eventually discover that the professor wants to spread a load of Griengas across the world in one fell swoop with a large bomb. to spread. However, Adriaan enters the professor's hideout and replaces the bomb with laughing gas, causing everyone to laugh. The gas also affects the professor, who comes to his senses and realizes his mistakes. Bassie and Adriaan's mysterious helper later turns out to be an inspector of the Belgian police, Jeroen van der Steen, who had infiltrated the professor's organization.
