Groundhog Day is a 1993 comedy film starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. The story revolves around Phil Connors, a cynical and arrogant weatherman who is sent to the small town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to cover "Groundhog Day," an annual tradition in which a groundhog predicts the end of winter.
What makes the film special is that Phil mysteriously becomes stuck in a time loop. He relives the same day, February 2, over and over again. No matter what he does, he wakes up on the exact same day every morning.
At first, Phil takes advantage of this situation, but over time he is forced to reflect on his life and choices. He learns empathy, self-improvement, and the importance of genuine relationships.
Eventually, he finds a way to escape the time loop by becoming a better version of himself.
Although the film is ostensibly set in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, it was primarily shot in Woodstock, Illinois.
