"Schimanski" is a German crime series that revolves around detective Horst Schimanski, played by actor Götz George. The character Schimanski was originally introduced in the iconic German crime series "Tatort" in 1981 and quickly became one of the most beloved characters in the series.
Due to his popularity, Schimanski was given his own spin-off series, called "Schimanski", which ran from 1997 to 2013. The series follows the adventures of Horst Schimanski after he retires from the police force. Although he no longer officially works in the police force, he remains involved in solving crimes and pursuing justice, often in his own unconventional and direct way.
The series is often set in the industrial environment of Duisburg and other Ruhr area cities, adding to the grim atmosphere.
