Bassie and Adriaan on Lanzarote
In 1986, recordings were made on Lanzarote for the TV series 'Bassie & Adriaan: The secret of the treasure map'. Fans still visit the Canary Island every year. The island that looks like a fried egg
It is perhaps the most famous location, you can already recognize it from the plane: the island that looks like a fried egg. The riddle on the treasure map read:
On one of the islands where birds bark, there is a broken lance. If you are at the top of the lance with the egg in the back, you will see a small moon when the large moon has taken the water with it. That's where the x is.
That island is the island of La Graciosa. You can still easily reach the exact recording location. You can immediately see that this is not the place where the climbing scene was shot.
The cave where the treasure was located
After Bassie and Adriaan have found the 'X' on the treasure map, they enter the cave and find the treasure. Some of these recordings were made in Valkenburg (the Netherlands). But the recordings with the treasury were made in the cave 'Cueva de los Verdes'. It is a beautiful cave to visit, but unfortunately the exact location where the recordings were made is no longer accessible to the public.
Jameos Del Agua
Close to the caves is 'Jameos Del Agua'. In 1981, recordings were made here for the TV series 'Bassie & Adriaan: De Huilende Professor'. Here you will find the underground lake where Adriaan dived. You can also find the stairs of the underground corridor system here.
The Little Moon
In the middle of the island you will find the location where the little moon was seen on a rock. This location is therefore not at all by the sea. The entrance to the cave may be a disappointment because this cave is only a few meters deep.
Hotel Fariones
Bassie and Adriaan stayed at the hotel Fariones. The hotel has since been renovated. Recordings were also made on the boulevard for the song '1, 2, 3 is uno dos tres'.
A hole in the ground, add a little water...
Bassie and Adriaan visit a dormant volcano. This was shot in Timanfaya National Park. You can still see how water spews out of the ground and how hay burns. Be sure to take a tour by bus.
The abandoned house
The crooks hide in an abandoned house and Bassie and Adriaan chase the crooks away with fireworks. This was shot in the village of Yaiza. Now there is a busy road, which was not there during the recordings in 1986.
Bassie smells something
When Bassie and Adriaan go on a treasure hunt, they first stop at a restaurant. Nowadays there is a shop here, although the owners now know the story of the recordings. So don't hesitate to go inside.
Laugh, laugh, laugh and your bad mood disappears
This song was recorded at different locations, but you will certainly recognize the old church in the village of Femés . The palm trees have gotten a lot bigger. The scene was also shot on the roundabout where Adriaan found out that they were looking in the wrong place. You also have a very nice view over Playa Blanca.
The green lake
The green lake from the TV series The Crying Professor can be found near the town of El Golfo. You can no longer get to the water, but a walk is definitely worth it.
Climbing
Climbing scenes were shot on the other side of the green lake. The scene was shot in the parking lot where Adriaan turns the car around because they have arrived at the end of the road.
Los Hervideros
A beautiful vantage point is 'Los Hervideros'. Here you can see the sea crashing on the rocks. Here Bassie and Adriaan looked out over the sea and discussed their search for the treasure. In the parking lot, Robin played a prank on Bassie by pretending the car could talk.
Driving through the black volcanic landscape
Many recordings were made on this road when Bassie and Adriaan are looking for the treasure by car. It is one of the most beautiful roads in Lanzarote with a particularly black volcanic landscape. On this road the crooks are reading the newspaper in the car when Bassie and Adriaan drive towards them.
