West Medical Center
Medisch Centrum West 1988 - 2 locationsIn 1982, Lelystad got its own Zuiderzee hospital, which was built with a view to future expansion. This clever planning ensured that enough space was available for other purposes, including the recording of a TV series. This opportunity was seized by the TROS, which broadcasted the popular series "Medical Center West" in the late eighties and early nineties.
The Zuiderzee Hospital served as the perfect setting for the dramatic events and emotional stories of the TV series. The realistic setting of the hospital gave viewers an immersive glimpse into the lives of the doctors, nurses and patients, making the series a believable and engaging experience.
"Medical Center West" grew into one of the most popular TV programs of that time, partly thanks to the unique location of the Zuiderzee hospital in Lelystad.
