When Cobb introduces Ariadne to the architecture of dreams, she builds a bridge and moves mirrors to create one that seems infinite. Just afterwards, the subconscious projections become hostile towards Ariane and the latter is stabbed by Mall, Cobb's ex-wife, which puts an end to the dream.
