I Nya Zeeland, nära bilden Matamata, har filmuppsättningen av Hobbitarna byggts. En stor uppsättning av Hobbiton and The Shire byggdes här för Sagan om ringen-filmerna. Samma uppsättning byggdes igen på den här platsen för Hobbit-filmerna. Efter inspelningen revs inte uppsättningen utan fungerar nu som en turistattraktion.
