In New Zealand, near the picture Matamata, the film set of the Hobbits was built. A large set of Hobbiton and The Shire was built here for the Lord of the Rings films. The same set was built up again for the films of The Hobbit. After the filming, the set was not demolished but now serves as a tourist attraction.
